To think that we thought he was extinct, when he was just hiding. This fish has traversed the ages, far from the coast. So rare and so deep that he had never before been photographed in his universe. And yet Gombessa the coelacanth wasn't born yesterday. His family inhabited the oceans 400 million years ago. Unchanging, he bears the marks of a bygone era, to which he is the last living testimony. So going down to him is the same as going back in time. Right on the bottom of the sea, in this world where every second counts, the meeting was unlikely and it remains unforgettable.
