The Marisol was one of the first designs offered for sale by WoodenBoat magazine, over thirty years ago. She's a rugged daysailer, all 12'6" of her. Measured metrically, she is a v-bottomed dagger-boarder built in glue-lap-ply construction with sawn frames. What makes this book unique is the pages and pages of detailed drawings. It will soon become apparent to the reader that Mr. Jackson is indeed a design engineer. With this 11" x 8 1/2" landscape-formatted book, you are actually seeing each of the thirty-five sheets (albeit reduced in size) of the plan set that sells for $125.00 (USD) The book is truly the full set of plans, and building commentary from the designer, a first in book publishing. Mr. Jackson has added a bit of information about his favorite sailing grounds for Marisol (sea and sun, in Spanish), the Auckland, New Zealand harbour area where he has lived a good portion of his life.
