Mike Calder had a long and distinguished career in the Hydrographic Service of the Royal Australian Nacy from which he retired in 1982, after 6 years heading the branch as the hydrographer RAN. A keen yachtsman all his life, he was soon cruising the waters of the south-west Pacific and in the two years 1985-85 spent most of his time in Fiji. Here, with the skill of the professional surveyor and with the requirements of the cruising yacht clearly in his mind, he collected the information presented in the first edition of this book. As well as revisiting most of the rest of Fiji and checking the earlier work, he was able to fly over many of the most beautiful anchorages and obtain some exceptional photographs. You can now 'see' before you arrive. A Yachtsman's Fiji continues to provide, in a most enjoyable form, the comprehensive information needed by a yacht to enable its crew to plan a cruise to Fiji and visit many areas never before adequately described. This book, the first and only information published specifically for small craft, is a must for any "yachtie" planning, or even dreaming of a visit to Fiji and the South-west Pacific.
